Mission 7
Mai 2025
During this two-week mission in Ethiopia, a team of four surgeons comprising Dr. Béatrix, Dr. Blanchet, Dr. Passot, and Dr. Vaudoyer, accompanied by Grégoire Béatrix for logistical support, continued their training work at the hospitals in Goba and Asella.
This mission also enabled us to extend our activities to new sites, notably in Addis Ababa, at Yekatit 12 Hospital, and in Adama, in partnership with the MIS Africa association, which brings together Ethiopian surgeons specializing in laparoscopy. At the same time, theoretical training sessions on simulators were organized, reinforced by the donation of two additional simulators, thus promoting the development of local practitioners.
Thanks to this fruitful partnership, new training and practice centers for laparoscopy have been established and are developing independently. Even in our absence, Ethiopian surgeons continue to regularly perform minimally invasive procedures, such as gallbladder removal and appendectomies, resulting in simpler postoperative care and shorter hospital stays for patients.
