Looking back on August 2025…

For six weeks, Emma Mulet, a digestive surgery resident at Lyon Sud University Hospital, had the opportunity to take part in a mission organized by Med Surg Support, in collaboration with MIS Africa.

Four hospital teams were visited:

• in Goba with Dr. Kebebe Bekele,

• in Asella with Drs. Hiwot Ambelu and Tokuma Kifle,

• in Bishoftu with Drs. Segni Bekele MD, FCS(ECSA) and Tatek Belay,

• in Addis Ababa, at Menelik II Hospital, with Drs. Salim Oumer (MD, GS) and Leul Shigut, M.D FCS(ECSA).

Beyond the numerous surgical procedures, an audit of sterilization practices and equipment inventory was also carried out, leading to two training days dedicated to operating room nurses, aiming to strengthen local skills in equipment care and maintenance.
