Med Surg Support missions follow one another and partnerships are consolidated. Dr. Blanchet and Dr. Beatrix spent two weeks training new surgeons and bringing medical equipment to two areas: Bishoftu and Addis Ababa.

In Bishoftu, with the help of Dr. Segny, we trained Dr. Tatek in laparoscopy. We treated more than a dozen cases of gallbladder removal (including 8 performed independently by Dr. Tatek) and brought in new equipment (new cold light source, trocars, forceps, etc.).

We also made the teams aware of the importance of maintaining medical equipment, which is often damaged by local sterilization processes.

Finally, the team was interviewed by the local media to explain the objectives of Med Surg Support and the various missions carried out since its creation.

In Addis Ababa, we performed several cholecystectomies, an appendectomy and a duodeno-jejunal tumor biopsy at Menelik II Hospital. We also provided medical equipment.
